Plantar inflammation

Or plantar fasciitis

The symptoms are usually heel pain, especially when taking the first steps in the morning or after a rest.

Causes

Other causes are severe overstraining during sports or due to obesity or inappropriate footwear. Sometimes the pain radiates all the way down to the longitudinal arch of the foot forward and out.

Histologically, there is inflammation and in prolonged cases there are also hairline cracks in the arch tensing plantar ligament. The pain is often also caused by compression of a delicate nerve.

Treatment

Approximately every 2nd patient has a so-called lower heel spur in conjunction with this disease.
